The roots of Coldwell Banker Commercial- date back to 1906 when Colbert Coldwell played a key role in rebuilding San Francisco after a devastating earthquake and fire ravaged businesses and homes.
Later joined by Benjamin Arthur Banker, the two partners established a company committed to providing client-centered commercial real estate services.
Over the next several decades, Coldwell Banker- embarked on a nationwide expansion to become the dominant commercial real estate company across America.
Today, the Coldwell Banker network of commercial brokers can be found in 30 countries in North America, South America, Europe, Africa, Asia and Australia, providing clients with industry leading commercial real estate solutions.
1906 Coldwell Banker is founded in San Francisco after a devastating earthquake and fire, focusing on commercial real estate and assisting the local business community in rebuilding San Francisco as a top city for commerce.
1937 Coldwell Banker forms a residential real estate operation to provide a full-range of services to its commercial real estate clients.
1940 Coldwell Banker is recognized as one of the largest commercial property services firms in the western United States.
1963 CBC incorporates after nearly six decades of operating as a partnership.
1981 Sears, Roebuck & Co. forms the Sears Financial Network and acquires Coldwell Banker Real Estate Corporation.
1989 Sears, Roebuck & Co. sells the commercial division of Coldwell Banker to a group of managers currently known as CBRE (CB Richard Ellis). As a result of the purchase, the entities enter into a non-compete agreement.
1993 CBC expands internationally into Canada.
1996 Coldwell Banker is acquired by HFS, Inc. (later Cendant Corporation, NYSE: CD) and becomes part of the world's largest real estate franchise organization.
1997 CBC expands into the Caribbean.
1998
- Cendant reintroduces the CBC brand under both an affiliate and company-owned business model.
- CBC expands into Mexico and Singapore.
1999
- CBC expands into China, Greater Europe and Israel.
- Franchise Times ranks Coldwell Banker Real Estate Corporation #12 overall among the top 200 franchise chains by worldwide sales.
2000
- CBC expands into Eastern Europe and Indonesia.
- Franchise Times ranks Coldwell Banker Real Estate Corporation #12 overall among the top 200 franchise chains by worldwide sales.
2001
- CBC expands into Australia, Egypt, India and Venezuela.
- Franchise Times ranks Coldwell Banker Real Estate Corporation #13 overall among the top 200 franchise chains by worldwide sales.
2002
- Coldwell Banker Commercial NRT acquires Arvida Realty Services, one of the leading brokerage companies in the state of Florida.
- Franchise Times ranks Coldwell Banker Real Estate Corporation #1 among real estate companies, and #10 overall, in the annual ranking of the "Top 200 Franchise Chains by Worldwide Sales."
2003
- Realcomm names CBC among the "Top 10 Most Innovative Brokerage Firms in North America."
- Franchise Times ranks Coldwell Banker Real Estate Corporation the #1 in real estate and #8 overall among the top 200 franchise chains by worldwide sales.
2004
- The Lipsey Company names CBCamong the "Top 20 Commercial Real Estate Brands."
- CBC expands into Costa Rica, Central America and South America.
- Once again, Franchise Times ranks Coldwell Banker Real Estate Corporation the #1 in real estate and #8 overall among the top 200 franchise chains by worldwide sales.

- Multi-Housing News magazine lists CBC as the 6th largest commercial real estate company in terms of transactions in the multi-housing industry.
- Commercial Property News magazine lists CBC as the 7th largest commercial real estate company in terms of brokerage revenues in 2004.
- Entrepreneur magazine ranks Coldwell Banker Real Estate Corporation as the #20 company in its annual Franchise 500 list.
- Coldwell Banker Commercial NRT acquires Prime Commercial Inc., to form the largest commercial real estate company in Utah.

- Realogy Corporation (NYSE: H) completes spin-off from Cendant Corporation (NYSE: CD).
